Description
Social relationships might be institutional such as familial, marital etc. They may be communal such as rural, urban etc. They might be structural or concerned with social classes. These classifications of social problems determine the field or sphere of social problems. Marital problems are the problems of tensions between males and females or opposite sexes. These lead to marital disorganization, divorces, prostitution etc. Familial problems are due to familial tensions. These include family disorganization or broken families resulting into crime, juvenile delinquency, alcoholism and drug addiction etc. The tensions in social stratification, the imbalance among social classes lead to classism, casteism, untouchability etc. Besides, some economic maladies, imbalances, tensions and malpractices disrupt normal and healthy social relationships and create social problems such as beggary, unemployment, poverty, problems of industrialization and urbanization and finally the labour problems. Then, there are problems due to group tensions. These groups may be racial, regional, geographical or national etc. Tensions among them lead to the social problems of regionalism, linguism, communalism, racialism etc.
